Why is my ETA Not Going Down?
TRAFFIC.
No, not the Steven Soderbergh movie with Benicio Del Toro. I'm talking about that real life traffic. That, not-of-the-drug-trade-extremely-unsexy-want-to-bang-your-head-on-the-steering-wheel-so-hard-it-activates-the-airbag kind of traffic.
That's what we experienced driving today, making a 12 hour drive 15 hours. That's a lot of hours for anyone who isn't well versed in being trapped in a car well beyond your comfort zone. And to make matters so much worse, Google and Apple Maps both seemed unable to properly estimate the conditions and kept us in a perpetual loop of being 2 hours and 16 minutes away from our destination no matter how far we traveled.
Its one thing to be moving at a snail's pace. Its another thing altogether to be made to feel like the time you've spent fighting the crush has amounted to nothing. That's real pain. Makes a man want to go back to triple A and get some real maps that don't lie to you.
Anyway, an adverse journey makes arriving at the destination so much sweeter. Home sweet home.
