It really is never too late to begin
I've always admired Fred Wilson of USV Ventures. He's a very successful venture capitalist, but what truly stands out to me is his dedication to blogging daily for the last 21 years. That level of consistency is remarkable, and I can only imagine how much he must have learned about himself and the topics he writes about through this practice. Not to mention the amazing feedback and the community he's built around his blog.
I've wanted to emulate this for a long time, but for various reasons, I just haven't managed to do it. I've started and stopped blogs now and then, focusing on different topics with different URLs. I've definitely spent more time fussing over the vanity name than actually producing content regularly. I won't make any excuses; I think it's mostly been due to fear of putting myself out there and a lack of discipline.
Despite these setbacks, I've never lost the desire to put myself out there, to have a daily practice of writing about things I care about and am interested in, and to engage with a larger community around these topics. So, this is my latest attempt, and I'm optimistic. I'm not going to be afraid of failure, and only real failure I can imagine will be continuing to do nothing.
Fred Wilson's posts aren't literary masterpieces. He's not channeling Cormac McCarthy, and that's the point. He's a busy man with a demanding job, yet he finds the time to share his thoughts and insights. He doesn't aim for perfection in every post, and he's okay with that. There's a significant lesson in his approach: the beauty of just putting yourself out there without the expectation of perfection.
So, here we go.
